Happy Summer term! It is your final half term at Gatcombe. We are looking forward to lots of exciting learning this half term. 

There will be some different things happening this half term including Enterprise days, reward days and other opportunities.

Here are Some of the Highlights of Our Curriculum This Half Term:

  • English: Our reading and writing will mostly be based on the book 'Running my own Race' by Abena Eyeson

  • Maths: Statistics and preparation for Enterprise week

  • Science: The circulatory system
  • History: Ancient Greece

  • Spanish: Yo en el mundo (Me in the world)
  • Music: The music of World War II

  • PSHE: Growing and Changing

  • R.E.: The theme will be 'Beliefs and Moral values' through Islam, answering the question 'Does belief in Akhirah (life after death) help Muslims lead good lives?'
  • Computing: Microbits

Other key information for Year 6

PE - Monday and Wednesday

  • Please come to school in school PE kit - shorts or tracksuit bottoms in cold weather, white polo shirt or t-shirt, a school jumper and trainers. Please make sure long hair is tied back and jewellery is not worn/ stud earrings taped up.

Home learning -

  • Reading: Please read at least 3 times a week and get your reading logs signed by an adult. Bring it to school in your book bag every day and it will be checked at least once a week by an adult to be rewarded with house points.
